Martin calls for all parties to cooperate in probe

CTV Martin wants cooperation in Grewal Tapes Probe.

Not all that interesting of a story, except for the fact that it is Martin stepping forward. This surely means that the Liberals are confident now that this story will spin in their direction. Harper, by contrast, has now disappeared and needs to distance himself from this mess.

Again, this shows very clearly who the true leader (and bigger man) is.

It is true that Martin is not always as decisive as he should be as a prime minister (cf. The Economist's label of "Mr. Dithers"), but when it comes down to it, he takes the lead and tries his best to clear up the mess, no matter how big the mess is. What refreshing contrast to his predecessor!

The CPC will delegate attacks to someone else other than the leader now. They need to give their loyalists - the one's who will never dare to listen to the real tapes - something to believe in.

But Grewal has to go, else the CPC will lose moral stance credibility beyond what they already have.

Observer. No, I don't think it shows that Martin is decisive. I think it shows that his people have decided that this is embarassing to the Conservatives and want to demonstrate it.

Mark. No, I think the Conservatives have to change the subject. To anything else. Any attack here by any conservative only allows a counter-attack that shows the Conservative transcript has been falsified.
